The world needs more than the ores we mine. We're absolutely committed to the wellbeing of communities and ecosystems in the places where we operate. And we’re restless in driving forward a new age of safe, sustainable, responsible mining.

We have clear values which inform our group-wide Code of Conduct. Our way is to do the right thing, the right way, the first time – and we’re not afraid to make hard choices.

Above all, we’re people who want to make a real difference. People like you?

We’re one of the biggest and most successful mining groups in the world, with a diverse workforce represented on five continents.

We’ve been building our business (and a worldwide reputation) for 100 years. Our task of creating sustainable value goes way beyond mining and extraction, spanning government relations, exploration, processing, smelting, and developing new mining technologies.

We’re proud of our achievements, but in a competitive and demanding industry we’re very much looking ahead, working to be partners in the future with all of our core constituents, from communities and governments to customers and shareholders.

How will we get there? By investing in assets that give people the commodities they want. By becoming ever more efficient. And by continuing to work safely, sustainably and responsibly. Above all we depend on our people. It’s people that make our business.

Our people are the proof that Anglo American is a truly global business: diverse and international.

Our approach to recruitment is simple: we choose the best person for the job, aim for a balanced workforce, and encourage those who live in the places where we operate to join us.

Real Careers

Our global reach and reputation mean the career opportunities with us are incredible. Here are some of the places Anglo American could take you…

We’re serious about ending male dominance in the mining industry. One by one, we’re removing the obstacles.

And we’re seeing the difference, with the proportion of women in our management roles now more than 20%. But we can still go further. From boardroom to rock face, we want women at Anglo American to be not just equal, but have the chance to be exceptional.

We need people who share our belief in a better future for mining and are ready to make a difference. Have you got what it takes?

We offer an incredible range of career opportunities worldwide and each demands particular skills or experience. But there are certain qualities we look for in all of our people.

You’ll need to be someone who can bring our values to life by following our Code of Conduct. You’ll be able to look beyond processes to the lives we touch. And you’ll be a team player, ready to share ideas, collaborate, challenge and support those around you, creating positive and long-term change.

What does it mean to live our values? Find out from Stimer...

“If it can’t be done safely we don’t do it.”

Stimer has real responsibility for peoples’ lives. So he leads by example, shares ideas and encourages collaboration. Stimer is clear that empowering people makes a real difference to understanding risks and hazards. Safety must come first.

Our Code of Conduct

Our Code of Conduct is a single point of reference for everyone associated with the Anglo American Group – as well as the departure point for a fuller understanding of our ethical policies and procedures.

It sets out ‘how’ we behave to reinforce our values, and ‘what’ we do to help protect Anglo American’s name, and to make a positive difference.

*The Code of Conduct identifies the standards of conduct that Anglo American expects of its directors, employees, contractors, consultants, suppliers, agents and other business partners in order to promote behaviour consistent with our core values. The existence of the Code of Conduct in itself should not be taken as providing any representation or any other assurance that Anglo American complies with any standard or policy specified, although the Code of Conduct is intended to help support compliance. The Code of Conduct does not create any benefit or rights in favour of, and is not enforceable by, any third party.

Putting people first in mining means an absolute commitment to safety.

In a potentially hazardous business we have a universal priority: all our people should go home safely at the end of each day. With our approach we’re pushing towards the ideal of zero harm.

Being safe starts with wellbeing – which means different things across the diverse communities we serve. We work to tackle each threat to wellbeing wherever we find it.

By joining our business, you’ll become part of the community where you work.

If people are our business, then our heart lies in the communities that enable us to function. We need them, and with your help we can give back as generously as they give to us.

The role you play could be face-to-face and hands-on: meeting, talking, teaching and learning. It may be less direct but no less important, for example, developing plans and programmes to make local lives better. Here’s Tatiane and Liomar’s story…

“We’re enabling people to create local income and have a good quality of life, without having to move out to the city.”
